How did you become interested in Engineering?

It was a bit random. I found myself in a small social gaming startup. At a certain point, we needed to assemble a data team, and we unintentionally put together one of the first big data platforms in Italy. My passion for data engineering started there. I have worked with data and Data Engineering teams for over 10 years as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, and Head of Data in some of the most innovative and largest Italian digital companies.

Why did you choose to join Kensu?

Before joining Kensu, I was implementing custom solutions to monitor the quality of data with my teams. On several occasions, I thought that if there was an innovative company in this domain, it would be an organization I’d like to work for, et voilà...

What does a typical day in your role look like?

A typical day begins with daily meetings with my teams. They are the experts, the champions, but it’s important to always be there to support them. The next part of the day typically involves a lot of planning and lending a hand where needed. I define myself as a leader who supports others and tries to facilitate the many hitches that can happen when you build such an advanced platform. I'm also an expert at asking silly questions to get my teams thinking. 🙂

What do you do outside of work to recharge?

Listening to music gives me a lot of energy. I also recharge by walking in the woods, parks, or by the sea along the beaches.

If you could recommend any book, which would it be?

High-Rise by J. G. Ballard.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

Il Postino: The Postman, directed by the great Massimo Troisi.

What is the most memorable moment in your life so far?

Well, surely the day my daughter Giulia was born! Over time, she and my wife Sara have given me so much love, joy, and balance.

What do you appreciate most about working for Kensu?

I work with so many good people. When I start working in the morning, I always consider myself lucky. Every day we have great challenges to face, but I know I am never alone. We fight, we win, and we lose together. If you work at Kensu, you are never alone.

Last question: What quote inspires you, and why?

“Men pass, but ideals remain and will continue to walk on the legs of other men.” -Giovanni Falcone

This author is an Italian that I admire, a true hero. I picked this quote specifically because I really enjoy building teams that represent my ideals: trust, respect, dedication, mutual support, and focus. I’d like to think these notions can be transmitted, triggering a virtuous circle at Kensu!
