What led you to a career in administration?

It was pretty random! I was just out of university and looking for translation jobs. I contacted Simon from The Faktory, who was very impressed with my organization, timeliness, and presentation. At the time, The Faktory needed a second executive assistant, so he asked me if I was interested in the position. This role eventually led me to work as a Business Operations Manager at Kensu. 🙂 I’ve learned a lot throughout the years and am still evolving and growing.

What do you enjoy the most about your specific role at Kensu?

What I enjoy the most about my role is, without a doubt, the diversity of my work tasks. I handle many different items, from finance to administrative tasks to HR. Every day is entirely different, and I am never bored. This has become the most rewarding aspect of my role.

What do you appreciate most about working for Kensu?

I appreciate the unity and trust between everyone at Kensu. We are a big team working from different countries and time zones! – and we still manage to make time to get to know each other and maintain contact. I’ve never seen this level of unity in a team before. I also admire everyone’s dedication. Each of us at Kensu gives it their all because we all believe in what we do. It makes me feel so fortunate to work here.

What is your best memory from working at Kensu so far?

I am a big fan of meeting my colleagues in person, so I’d have to say that my favorite memory is the Catania Kensu Offsite of September 2021. I honestly hadn’t laughed as much as I did during that trip in a very long time! Team building opportunities, whether it is the company-wide annual offsite or smaller team gatherings in Belgium, are definitely moments I enjoy a lot. I always leave these gatherings knowing they have positively impacted the team as a whole.

What is the most memorable moment in your life?

I would say that, to this day, my most memorable moment is when I graduated from university. I had quite a hard time at the beginning of university, I was all over the place. After my second year, I nearly stopped completely, but I persisted. It has been my most memorable achievement.

How do you recharge?

I enjoy cooking, reading, and listening to music. I also recently got into making candles. Since I am a very stressed person, I like having a more manual hobby to help get my mind off overthinking. I used to really enjoy cooking desserts, but since you must eat them all… I switched to making candles. 😃 I wanted to try something new, so I thought, “Ok, what can I try?” I don’t do candle-making every week, but I like it. It’s still new.”

What are you looking forward to as we start a new year?

I don’t have any big plans on the personal side or milestones planned for 2023, but I am looking forward to working on myself a bit. I enjoy the ‘New Year Energy’ even if I don’t believe in waiting for January 1st to make a new resolution or change in habit. I also like the idea of “Ok, it’s a new year: What can I leave behind? What do I want for next year?”

What is your favorite place that you’ve traveled to?

I’m not sure if it’s the coolest place I’ve ever been to, as I have been fortunate to have already traveled to a few beautiful countries, but I recently traveled to Canada for two weeks, followed by five days in New York. It was a pretty great trip with lots of discoveries and breathtaking views. Since we were traveling through both Canada and New York by car, I was struck by the immensity of everything because it’s something I am not used to seeing in Europe.

What can you typically be found doing on the weekend?

On Saturday morning, I usually go to the gym for a boxing class. I’ll run errands and spend time with my mom by grabbing a coffee lunch. I also enjoy spending time at home during the weekends without the frenzy of the week. I’ll spend this time with my partner which is special since we both work a lot during the week. At my home, I have a big garden that I get a lot of amusement working in. Finally, starting this month, I’ll be giving English lessons on the weekends.

What quote inspires you? Why?

“One step at a time. One day at a time.”

This quote resonates with me in both my personal and professional life. Sometimes I can become overwhelmed, and this mantra helps me remain calm and not overthink too much.
